APRIL is National Cancer control Month

Each year the president of the United States proclaims that each April is Cancer control month. This month is simply used as a broad spectrum to educate our American, Europeans, African and Asian citizens about many different types of cancers and all different ways to counter, and prevent the spread of cancer. Often heard is the famous "cancer has touched everyone in one way or another.” This is even more prevalent today as more then 13 million people were diagnosed with some form of cancer. Common Cancer Types: Bladder Cancer Breast Cancer Colon and Rectal Cancer Endometrial Cancer Kidney (Renal Cell) Cancer Leukemia Lung Cancer Melanoma Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Pancreatic Cancer

Cancer Prevention

Possible prevention techniques It is important to use any measures available to us that are controllable to prevent cancer, if the opportunity is given take full advantage to prevent, because the maintenance of health is superior to the treatment of disease.

Cancer Screening

Proper screening tests Most important still strongly suggested for cancer prevention, or early detection is following the proper screening chart dates, and ages. (I.e. after age 40 males should have there prostate checked regularly). Technology is now advanced so that there is a myriad of ways to be screened and tested for many types of cancer. Such as, Mammograms, Blood testing, PAP tests, etc.

External ways of prevention

Sunscreen Possibly the easiest way for all Americans to prevent a type of cancer that is caused by the sun, skin cancer (Melanoma), is to simply apply sunscreen every single day you go out into the sun. UV rays can be very damaging to the skin and cause malignancy in skin cells, and melanin pigments (Moles). Diet Most cancer cases can be directly related to life choices such as, smoking, drinking, poor diet and more. However, by simply improving your intake of foods you can significantly reduce one factor that goes into possibly causing a tumor to form. Having such immense control over a variable should be exploited by the individual to its full potential for maximum benefits, not only to prevent cancer but also to improve overall health and lifestyle.

Breakfast: make sure to focus on whole grains for a good start to the day, the less refined grains you have (white breads and cereals) the better. Also add nuts or a few green leafy vegetables to the breakfast for maximum benefit.

Lunch: Instead of eating that greasy fast food burger, try a salad alternative, usually pre-made at local super-markets and also contain some sort of healthier meat such as turkey, or chicken breast. Also stay completely away from any fried foods, Oils are very beneficial for the body but once heated or boiled all the nutrients in the oil are completely lost in the boiling procress, and it actually removes any beneficial proteins or starches the food such as a potato may have.

Dinner: If eating pasta, be sure to eat the whole grain version and not refined, benefits from complex carbohydrates range from boost in energy levels, to better bowel movements. Always throw in a couple of raw vegetables to the mix to liven up the color in the pasta, contrary to the usual chicken or shrimp that may be in the pasta.

Cancer control month

Take the steps this April to educate yourself on the many types of cancers, and the many variables that can go into causing any given type. Diversify your diet and make sure to do this in the proper way. Use this as an opportunity to get a head start, the maintenance of health is superior to the treatment of disease.
